While trying to come up with an idea for a song one day in Nashville, Dawn Anita kept seeing these newsbreaks flash on the screen on TV shows, and thus an idea formed about writing a song entitled "This Newsbreak is for You". However, after writing the song, she changed the title to "It's Gonna be Stormy".
